Bridging Modern Herbal Practices with the Ancient Art of Spagyria

From Herbalism to Spagyria: A Thorough Overview of How To Make the Transition

Every tree has its roots, trunk, branches, and leaves—and so it is with the Tree of Western Medical Traditions. A significant portion of this tree is made up of the many branches and leaves that represent modern herbal, energetic, homeopathic, and integrative medicine traditions. However, what most people don’t realize is that Spagyria is the taproot of this tree, and nearly all modern medical and medicinal arts and sciences have their origins in the Spagyric tradition. In this class, we will provide an overview of the branches related to modern herbalism and related practices, showing how these practices fit within Spagyria.

In particular, students will learn about tincture-making, essential oil and hydrosol distillations, homeopathy and the poison path, brewing, fermenting, distilling spirits, and more—and how these aspects of modern herbal practices integrate into Spagyric practice. By gaining this perspective, practitioners can use these common practices as a fulcrum to transition into Spagyric practice. Additionally, we will explore which types of Spagyric pharmacopoeia are best suited for each type of herbal practitioner based on the commonalities they share. Furthermore, advice, tips, and ideas will be provided to help practitioners leverage their expertise, bioregion, and individual style to carve out a sustainable and ethical niche within the growing field of Spagyric practitioners.

This recorded live class is designed to appeal to current herbal practitioners and herbalists interested in learning how they can begin creating Spagyric pharmacopoeia using their existing practices and skills.

The class includes a 2-hour and 11-minute video.
