Historically, and in TCM (Zhi Zi), Fruit of Cape Jasmine has been used to clear heat, expel worms, prevent spasms, reduce swelling, stop bleeding, calm the spirit, drain damp heat affecting the Liver and Gallbladder, for fever, irritability, restlessness, stifling sensation in the chest, insomnia, rosacea, urinary tract infections, jaundice, mouth sores, nosebleeds, sprains, bruises, intermittent fevers, dysentery, muscular weakness, abdominal pains, indigestion, headaches, hardened skin ulcers, sores, toothaches, scalds, burns, and as a laxative.
